Jasmin's Story
My family and I have known Jasmin as neighbours since she was 1 year old. We watched Jasmin grow up side by side with our own daughter Ida. They quickly became close and to this day remain best friends.
Jasmin is only 21 years old and is a joyful, caring, admirable, and strong-willed young woman with her whole life ahead of her. She is a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend - and deeply loved!
But two years ago, Jasmin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, bone cancer, in the lower part of her spine. A serious and life-threatening disease that turned her life upside down. After a series of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Jasmin was able to return to her life for a short period, but unfortunately the cancer has now returned, and with even greater severity.
In mid-February, only a week after her 21st birthday, Jasmin received the heartbreaking news that the life-saving operation and treatment that could give her a real chance of recovery is not considered possible in Denmark.
However, there is a possibility in Berlin. There, a team of specialists in the exact type of cancer Jasmin has can perform an operation to remove the part of the spine where the cancer is located. And with subsequent chemotherapy treatments also in Berlin, there is hope and a chance for Jasmin's future.
